March 2021
March is the golden month, so it's time for the return of pots of gold! Feb/Mar is my favorite set because I get to do this ;)
We'll be selling pots of gold on the website (as always, not literally gold coins.) Each pot has a wide variety of prizes and is priced similarly to cryptic chests. For those who don't know, these pots of gold are intentionally incredibly variable. Where normally I do my best to bring things in to a middle range of variance, I've let these be as swingy as they can be. While their average is targetted at sale prices (14 credits), they give anything from 5cr to 500cr. They're like chests without my years of careful statistical curation.
We'll also have a milestone mission this month! Finding the end of a rainbow will give you a bronze milestone. You must be logged in 60 minutes before a rainbow will pop up for you. Once it appears, you may SEARCH FOR RAINBOW every 10 seconds to get a clue as to how close you are. There will also be a once daily prize to spend that milestone on. It has chocolates or other odd things inside, including pieces to a relic minipet. And now it also has a slight chance for a pot of gold!

Credit Loans
We're introducing a new way of transfering credits from one player to another: the LOAN command. This allows you to easily keep track of credits you have lent out or have been lent. We will also be using it to prevent bad faith players from retiring or suiciding away with the owed credits.
DISCLAIMER: Outside of blocking people from retiring and suiciding, we will not be enforcing loans in any way. There is always a risk that someone will just not pay you back.
Syntaxes are as follows:
LOAN <#> CREDITS TO <person> [FOR <reason>]
Loans the specified amount of credits to someone. The reason is optional, but highly recommended!
LOANS
Lists the loans owed to you, or that you owed to someone.
LOANS REPAY <loan>
Repay a loan in its entirety, settling your debt with someone.
LOANS FORGIVE <loan>
Forgive someone's loan owed to you in its entirety - they no longer have to pay you back.

Re: Warhound Breeding is Hell: we need to fix it
This begins with a false assumption, that a Warhound being perfect should be doable without Soulpact/Beastmastery. Literally the "worst case scenario" is to use your Trans skill to make a perfect hound. Through application of effort you breed a near-perfect one, then use beastmastery to finish it. Or you skip all that and spend a bunch of gold.
So, you have no reason that this is 'bad' other than your desire to breed a perfect hound and not have to use your Trans skill. In the most generous scenario, this is to give newbies the ability to never need Beastmastery. It is not a poison carrot. It is that the skill does not conform to your expectation, wasting your time with a misunderstanding of its function. We can fix that, we'll add a helpfile with more mechanics in it. Generally there's a back and forth about how much information we should give, so we didn't see it as necessary before now.
You are not 'locked behind a hellish grind' to use the class.
This kind of dramatics doesn't help anyone. Now I'm frustrated because I spent hours working through the code, trying to understand why there was a problem, because Keroc and I fixed this years ago, and he remade it a year before that. There isn't a problem, it's just not as fun as it could be.
I'm closing this thread. Likely we'll add a random chance to lose a negative trait when breeding, just so there can be more fun trying for weird mixes that are perfect, as it's essentially a cosmetic/prestige thing. Also considering adding a bunch of silly negative traits that would have zero effect, besides being amusing. Understandably the priority will be low.
@Ayastia might have a point with moving Beastmastery lower, but I'm torn. It enables perfect PvP hounds and that might unbalance the effectiveness of the class vs similarly learned classes.

Charity Figurines - For a collection, since those were very popular, have a set dedicated to Charity, where we can provide proceeds to a charity of the Community's choice.
There are a ton of amazing charities out there, and its an opportunity to give back especially in uncertain times to communities in need.

Why not just sit back and chill? Nothing serious is going on that requires player leadership. It's not like BL is lively enough anyway to warrant immediate attention. Even when there was player leadership, it wasn't that lively.

Re: Mirror classes
I don't know, it seems to me that hopping tethers ought to be punishing. I would disagree with outright losing lessons because it makes no sense that you'd magically forget everything. But your artifacts? If I'm a carpenter and then decide I'm going to be a scientist one day, I'll still have my carpentry knowledge, but my tools? Better stash em incase getting published is too hard. Or I could sell them to jumpstart my lab. Just my thoughts.
