Of note, it's still incredibly useful. If you get rid of it... well... with it you can't be hidden reclaimed. Without it... yea. I'd rather not be killed and not see it coming :)

I think it's more a matter of the artifact being WAY too valuable for its price before. Before, it reduced most(All!?) blackout sources to the point where the person using blackout couldn't even get balance back before the blackout ended. It was vastly overpowered, even reduced to as much as it does now is still a very solid advantage. Artifacts that mitigate combat mechanics SHOULD be expensive, if they exist at all.

Going based off this point, clarity should have been left alone. It was expensive and it mitigated blackout a fair deal. Idk, maybe I'm just abit sour about it, but thats my own personal unicorns to deal with.

That being said, I think an artifact should be made that gives a reduction to the cooldown timers for vitality-like skills. Would be nice not having to wait 5 minutes before I put it back up -.-

I don't even know how you could take that from what I said.

This is less an idea and more of a question...unless the answer is no, and then it's a suggested idea!

Can you use $(dye$) tags in artifact designs?

Now you got monks who can hide entire combos and get 100% blackout uptime unless you drop cr for it. Yay almost mandatory artifacts.

Well, I guess. What's technically possible isn't exactly actually a good idea. I don't have it, and I do fine vs Valingar's blackout spam. I wouldn't say any monk I've ever fought actually uses it like you describe.

I would love some sort of artifact-type-thing that you could wear that would let you put medals and stuff into it like a wearable display case with a bit more space than actual display cases because 5 is laaame.

That way we can pimp ourselves out with military bling and people can go:
    LOOK AREKA
( proudly secured upon her coat ) : a polished, narrow medal rack
and then be like, "oh snap what medals she got?"
LOOK AREKA RACK (holder? I like rack personally because, you know)

Polished to a pristine gleam, a silver bar backed by pins serves as a mounting rack for medals, insignia and ribbons, allowing them to be neatly displayed in formal array.
A polished, narrow medal rack holds:
    "medal223908" a mine-engraved service medal
"medal229696" a gold insignia of five woven swords

and then be all "Mines? I dig mines, what's up with that one?"

and then all, "LOOK AREKA RACK 223908"
    and see:
A small medallion serves as the focal point of this service medal, which hangs from a pin-backed, dark blue ribbon. The medal has been engraved with the silhouette of a cave with stylized mining tunnels branching out like roots underneath, this symbol positioned above the molded relief of crossed mining picks. The back is polished to a mirror shine, with lines of script neatly engraved by a steady hand.
Engraved on it are the words:
    Moghedu : 422 MA
    Areka
It can be worn in the following locations:
    onshirt neck
It has 86 months of usefulness left. <- only without this so that they can be preserved within the rack. Maybe change the name to "a medal-preserving rack" because I''m on a tangent.
    It weighs 2 ounce(s).
It bears the distinctive mark of Knight Areka Morrog.

You just wanted to type "Look areka rack".

    MAYBE A LITTLE

But I'm also serious, because I think it'd be neat at least for Templar where medals are awarded periodically, guild can't afford to luster ever one, and it would allow for adding/removal/multiples, and make it easier to keep them all together so you don't have to strip/drop/re-grab things to get a nice order on look (person), and stuff.

But I also want more excuses for looking at racks. I mean.

Could the goldtouch thing NOT respond to the tag 'gold' on its own? >.> It'll end up with a glass-like problem where it's constantly being put into crafting designs because it's impossible to catch unless you realize you didn't have any in your inventory when you designed it since it shows up as 'gold' on the list. Crazy frustrating.

An artifact -upgrade-, like, level 2 or something for the libram of enlightenment--that lets you personally teach OTHER PEOPLE that quickly.

ETA, since all things seem to have three levels, maybe level 2'll let you teach your own protege that quick, and level 3'll let you teach everyone that quick? Dunno.

Nah, it'd basically pave the way for 1 artifact for either side of the game. 1-4 people buy it and upgrade then stand idle somewhere while 10-50 people use it as necessary. Better for them to have everyone just buy their own.

Easy fix for that, @Haven. Make it only work for the owner, just like Hoods.

Then there'd be no point to the upgrade as it'd just be what it is now. :-P She's asking for people to learn off you quickly if you upgrade the artifact.

Unless you mean, only the owner can teach quickly... then that's precisely my point. Have one person idle where ever and dispense fast lessons for anyone that asks them trigger. It'd be like the war standards all over again.

I'm not sure why fast lessons would be a bad thing.

Naw, I actually think there will be more people buying it with the upgrade than not. So I see why it was brought up. :) Right now, the artifact is pretty useless. For it to really save time, you'd need a load of lessons to spend at a go. If you are the sort of person who tends to have a load of lessons to spend at a go, chances are you won't need the artifact for long. Alternatively, if you are the sort of church mouse who scrimps for every lesson you get, the artifact is a luxury. On the other hand, if you make the upgrade version usable on others, not only you can charge a premium for the upgrade, it would appeal to the GM/novice head/novice aides types. It's not like war standards where it is usable only once a blue moon (during war season). It would be used pretty often for novices - a perennial affair. Sorry for the bad phone formatting!

Yeah, I would consider buying it out to help others. For myself, I can just read forums while I learn on loop.

    My own arti idea:

I would pay a ton for some sort of ears to tack onto my shrunken head which had a chance to repeat a snippet of whatever phrase was said with my name.

  • I disagree with any artifact that will allow you to potentially hear an OOC conversation.

That'd be a curious arti, @Moirean. I'd definitely pay to hear people qq about me/Ishin :D

  • @Moirean‌ :

Technically, shrunken head guy needs workable mouth parts so he can repeat the convo. He can hear just fine. Problem is that his only form of communication is vibrating in your pocket.
  • I'm not sure if I'm not seeing it or what, but I thought there was already an artifact power that hides what statpack you are from anyone that looks at you, or uses guild privs to inspect you. If there isn't a power like this, that would be cool.
I mean, you know, an amount.

  • I kinda disagree with the statpack idea.
At the moment, statpacks don't really matter in that sense. I'm not really going to change my tactics depending on your statpack because there aren't any serious maluses anymore to take advantage of.

So in that respect, why not have the arti?

But in theory, I liked it better when some of the packs (races back then) had serious maluses offsetting serious min/maxing of stats, such as grook with L3 fire malus. I liked that element of strategy and disagree with an artifact that removes that sort of thing from the game entirely.

But as I said at the start - it doesn't exist anymore so: meh.

  • For the new racial relics (maybe this needs a new thread?):

Maybe some types of pieces that are elemental-based in nature? Not everyone is mutated into animal/creature types.

In addition to elemental options, I was kind of hoping to see some insectoid stuff like insect antennae (antennae twitch emote, scent ability) or chitinous plates (minor defense boost). Also, horns were mentioned in the announce post, but sadly, no artifact for horns. Could grant access to a minor damage gore ability.
  • I honestly feel like maybe the racial pieces should be put into a special marketplace. Seems bleh to have what is a pretty good roleplay tool stuck into a promotional slot.

I'm not sure what you mean. Chances are there will be a good supply of pieces in the auction house once the promo cranks up.
You say to Slyphe, "You're so freaking smart."

    "^," Slyphe agrees with you.
  • I mean something more permanent than just the month. But I'm sure you are right regarding how many pieces will be around after people dig into the promo.
