I love having music on, but can't listen to stuff with words when I write. I need mood-setters and instrumentals. Here are some of my favorite artists for that. Enjoy the mellow music!
Suzanne Ciani:
Stars of the Lid and Their Refinement of the Decline
The Album Leaf
Rufus Cappadocia
Karen Olson
James Blackshaw
Ludovico Einaudi
Buckethead
Nick Cave and Warren Ellis - all of their soundtrack work is just incredible.
/late I just discovered this song from a radio station I've been listening to recently, and I love it. Along with Sir Sly and a number of other awesome bands. I wish I could go see Sir Sly this Saturday, but can't, because people are dumb.
I'm sure I have expressed my deep love for Girl Talk here before, but I'm doing it again. Shamelessly. Because this man is a genius, and this album is my JAM.
I love this song and the film clip is brilliantly shot. I mean if they can make you sympathetic for a couple of wax dummies it's just amazing. I always start tearing up at the end.
Monophonics: "Bang bang" (really fun band, very classic rock sound with a bit of funk infusion) "There's a riot going on"
Hozier: "Take me to church" (my dad is totally getting this album as a gift, really good soulful blues-rock sound)
The Unseen Guest: "Let me in" (really really cool band, lots of unique instruments and sounds, some really cool applications of things like sitar and tabla with blues, rock, folk and jazz elements) "The whitest lie"

Every thread you break,
Every troll you hate
Every pic you fake
I'll be watching you.
Every single day
And every meme you say
Every game you play
Every noob you slay
I'll be watching you

the way she tells me I'm hers and she is mine
open hand or closed fist would be fine
blood as rare and sweet as cherry wine
"The smell of dusty fur, sweet smoke, waiting and patience, a thing that time cannot kill. The moth that candles won't burn."

So glad I backed this album on a whim on Kickstarter.
