My pet peeve:
The eternal catch 22 that is being in shadow. Damned if we do. Damned if we don't.

There is zero sportsmanship about any of the PK events outside of Sect. My experience in just about every event has been not syncing up time wise with the rest of shadow, and when I'm ready to go, they're taking breaks cus it is exhausting going up against superior numbers. A lot of time I just fly in solo, trying to catch like one person alone which is lucky to happen but will be short lived because easily 3+ people will show up instantly. What that curates is an ambivalence from me for spirit characters coming to contest or thwart the attempts. It feels like if we have the numbers advantage and the momentum we cannot give a single inch because the competition with Spirit is just that close. Spirit is doing competitively well and it's been shown time and again there will be no holding back to even the playing field for a weaker side. This eliminates any kind of sportsmanship in these competitions which, honestly, maybe is fine. I'm willing to accept that wanting to keep it 'fun' by evening the odds when you're in a position to do it isn't realistic or really even the point of the roles we're playing in this game.

Whatever the case it's all exhausting. Losing to Spirit is exhausting. Winning against Spirit is exhausting. Complaints happen regardless.

EDIT: If Shadow had taken an L tonight, I doubt there'd be any posts in these forums about how things were unfair. Like how overnight we learned that stationed troops meant we couldn't engage with the mechanics or the fact that some spirit characters seemed to react quickly, prior to any public posts made in the news, and seemed to just *know* bad things were afoot from Bloodloch. Nobody complained about these things. We just accepted and adapted and tried and assumed we were not going to be able to engage in the mechanic because we would not be able to get our shit together enough to offer a fight.

What's cool about all of this is that it's been entirely organic and unexpected. The nuances and details of everything leading up to a single win in a night has been the culmination of tons of character driven RP and initiative. It's shaped into a good story. Apologies to anyone reading this and flowing with my stream of thoughts here, but I'm realizing now my true pet peeve is that all the complaints and attitude about an event completely undermine and disregard the story being told. It's a story. I wish people would remember that this is a story and bad things need to happen in order for stories to be good. Bloodloch potentially being successful here is going to make a point in which ENorian is successful that much more meaningful and the world that much more interesting. Respect the stories. Appreciate the fact that there are bad things happening so good guy characters can be good. Don't cry on the forums.
