I learned this morning that I have evidently run afoul of IRS law related to my medical flexible spending for a surgery I had over the summer. It's complicated to explain, but the short version is that I made a decision that has ended up costing money instead of saving money, and a fairly significant amount of money, at that. :(

It takes a lot to make me angry, honestly, but...

I'm REALLY mad right now at my country's dumb fucking voters screwing themselves over and everyone else in the process.

I mean, FFS, it's driven up credit prices for me by 40%, and now this?!?!?!

I'm trying to understand this problem in the article, but I honestly am having trouble getting over the picture of the marmite bottle at the top.

  • My roommate situation keeps getting worse and worse.

Now she's sending me passive aggressive texts but still avoiding me, turning the a/c on for the whole house at night when it's 59 degrees outside, and slamming doors obnoxiously when I'm working. She never does these things when my boyfriend is home, only when I'm home alone with her.

I'm just...I'm so glad that I almost have my deposit and I've been working A LOT. There's a light at the end of the tunnel, her pettiness has driven to me to hustle like crazy. It's the only good thing about this whole situation. The way I've been going it looks like I'll be able to get out early and she can have the house to herself.

Just sad that she's doing all this stuff to get a rise out of me :(

Makes working from home more difficult and anxiety ridden than it needs to be too.

My rage is that my computer got caught in a BSOD loop and even though Dell fixed it, all of my files are gone, including 38 hours of game play on Dragon Age: Origins. I double checked Origins Cloud Storage and apparently DA:O saves aren't logged there anymore. Wtb: Not having to do the Cricle Tower, Redcliffe, and Urn quests over again.

  • So I talked Reux's player into wandering over to Cali from Vegas so we could beach on the first 'cause I hadn't gone to the beach in a long damn time. 20 minutes in, I had a fight with a wave and I lost, and something in my knee/leg made a popping sound and it was a bitch to walk on thereafter. Dunno if it's sprained or if I just pulled something or snapped a tendon or what, but it hurts. Didn't bruise or swell up or anything, so I pretty much have just been keeping off of it where possible.

I was lucky that I'd already arranged for vacation to go for most of the rest of the week, so it at least had some time to heal before I had to go back to work, more or less, but I've been hobbling back and forth to/from work on it for the past week or so. Seems to be getting worse rather than better. Is always better after I've slept, but quickly gets worse thereafter. It is particularly ow today (which is why I'm posting now), because it is windy as fuck outside and the wind was pushing me around in ways that made me want to scream. :<

  • SaritaSarita Empress of Bahir'an The Pillars of the Earth
That sounds similar to a ligament problem I had a few years ago. The popping noise was when it tore in half, and like you, I didn't have any bruising or swelling either, but I wasn't able to stand up right away or move around much without it screaming at me. Since it's getting worse, you might want to consider seeing an orthopedic doctor or try to get an MRI from a primary care one to see if anything's up.

  • I get 8 doctor visits a year, and my insurance doesn't cover anything but the actual visit. I'd suck it up and just spend the money I have saved up for it, but I may need to move in December--if I do, I kind've require the money I have saved for deposits and things wherever I go. :/

Considering that I work for an Insurance company my Insurance is totally shit.

On the upside, isn't as horrible as it was Friday.

  • Mad at being the friend that my friend needs to explain to his friends before I get introduced to them. Rage at being treated like a rattle snake for being a combat veteran. My co-workers give some measure of space and polite treatment to me, but I think it's because they have no choice due to having to work with me on a daily basis. Social settings though? Yeah right. Went to meet an old friend that I went to High School with, and when I got to his apartment, everyone was on guard with me, as if they hardly knew how to act themselves. On top of that, there was one guy there (he meant well regardless) who wanted war stories and information on the subject in general. Kept pressing me for info like I was being interviewed. I just want to drink and talk about lofty subjects, not make the entire damn night the subject of combat and war (unless the setting is right and I'm in the mood). I always feel like I have electricity running through me when civilians treat me like a rattle snake.

That's my rage thought for the day people.

Have you wrapped it or put on some sort of compression? I read that it didn't swell but maybe the support would make walking less yuck tastic

  • I had considered acquiring a brace of some kind, but Reux's player expressed concern that it might somehow make it worse, or do weird things to the healing process. I don't usually injure myself in a way that's not just don't-use-it-for-about-a-week fixable at worst, so I don't really know what would help and what would hurt.

@Erzsebet There are some types of braces that are simply supportive to assist with the healing process. Simply transfixing a joint is rarely a good idea, as it will just weaken the muscles around the area. Without having checked your knee, or knowing exactly what kind of damage could have been done to it, I'd suggest the kind of brace that has a hole cut out for the knee-cap. They allow movement, but also gives support so the cap won't move too much out of place, which could cause pain after ligaments have been stretched.

  • SaritaSarita Empress of Bahir'an The Pillars of the Earth
I think it's also worth noting that if there -is- a ligament injury, it may not heal on its own. The one I had (ACL) is one of the ones that simply won't do it once it reaches a certain point. The body just breaks it down and reabsorbs it, so I ended up choosing surgery to make a new one, essentially. My other choice was a lot of physical therapy to strengthen the muscles around the knee, but even then, without a ligament holding things where they needed to be, I would have had the risk of my knee randomly buckling and giving out for the rest of my life.

Ligament injuries really do need a doctor or MRI to diagnose though. Doctors have certain tests for particular ligaments that involve wiggling your knee in certain ways and comparing it to the way the other moves to get an idea of what might be injured, so mine was able to say he thought the ACL was gone before I had the MRI, but the imaging confirmed it.

You can also go to a specialist (Naprapathic therapist) as they handle both muscles and bones. A stretched ligament is usually not that big of a deal. Hurts like hell, but it heals with time. Best way to make sure it gets better is to exercise, build up strength in surrounding muscles, because then they can help correcting the weak spot.
Torn or otherwise damaged ligaments will, as @Sarita said, require more attention and possibly surgery. Make sure you keep track of how long you've had your problems, which side of the knee hurts more and in what movements. It will help them assess the damages.

At this point, the knee itself, like top front hurts? But only if I poke at it. Which I've just been electing not to do. And if I try to hobble around too fast, or lay on my back when I sleep, the back of my knee hurts. It's improved since I made the original post. It hurts now, but I just made my nightly trek from the bus stop home. It'll stop being grumpy in 20 minutes or so if I keep off of it.

At this point, may wait a couple more weeks to see where it's at and if it isn't improved much, suck it up and go get it looked at. You guys are kind've making me worry.

ETA: The last comment reads like a complaint. Isn't. Thanks for the advice and shared experience. <3

Don't worry too much. More often than not, it's simply a stretched ligament. Since the pain seems to pass and you can actually use it (although it's painful) tells me it will most likely go away. It's just that it takes a very long time for things to return to normal. Look at it as twisting your ankle, only then it's just one side that gets screwed up. With the knee it's at least three tendons/ligaments involved, all pulled in different directions. Don't push yourself too much, but whatever you do, don't keep too still as that will make you stiff. :)

Watched Fox's remake of Rocky Horror Picture Show. My thoughts went as such:

    1. Oh, Victoria Justice did a decent Janet.
    2. Brad kind of looks like Brendon Urie. I'm okay with this. He's got Brad's voice down
    3. I'm cool with this RiffRaff
    4. ACK.
    5. WAIT WHAT, no. Stop no this isn't right that's not right what are you doing stop (time warp dance y u not the time warp dance)
    6. Eddie wasn't terrible. It's hard to make Adam Lambert terrible.
    7. Rocky wasn't terrible
    8. All the songs and dialogue just seem.. forced. Off. Like a millisecond off, like when you shift everything slightly to the left on someone and no one understands why it's off but it is.
    9. Aww Tim Curry. I'm glad he's doing a little better. It's so sad to see such a talent so diminished by stroke. Cool he's in it though
    10. I thought the framing of the movie within the idea that an audience is participating was kind of cool though. That wasn't bad.
    11. The sets seemed so cramped to me and I didn't understand why. It wasn't live like the Sound of Music or Semi Live like Grease. They could have afforded to make it less on top of every actor. i felt such close proximity to everything going on felt almost claustrophobic.

I mean... Either do a stage production or leave the movie alone and air it how it is. Why you got to make it over, Fox?

@Aishia she was one of the really great things about the remake, in my opinion.

Woo. Wedding frustrations. I'm getting married in a week, and a lot of really frustrating things have been cropping up.

Number one, bachelor party issues. For almost a week, we've kind of assumed that my fiance's groomsmen were jerks because they talked about a bachelor party for months, and now a week before the wedding, nothing's happened, and when we tried to organize one, all the people we asked said they had other plans. My fiance was devastated and depressed, and horribly stressed out. Cut to today. Turns out my mother in-law had planned on the bachelor party being a surprise as everyone we spoke to showed up, but she had neglected to inform certain people about the 'surprise' part. I find this out AFTER I went off on all the groomsmen for being jerks; nobody bothered telling me that they had planned stuff for my fiance even as I was yelling at them. Would have saved a lot of frustration.

Number two, guests cancelling at the last minute after already RSVPing saying they were attending. This has been bugging me a lot because we're paying for our wedding ourselves, and we had been saving for well over a year. The deadline for RSVPs was a few weeks ago, and now we have guests cancelling over things they had known about weeks ago. Now we're kind of screwed in paying for people who aren't going to be there.

Number three, family drama. I come from a large family. So large that we couldn't afford to invite everyone on my side, but everyone I talked to was very understanding about it. I've not had any problems dealing with my family in regards to the wedding. My fiance's family? Not so much. There's always some new drama going on that's only gotten worse as the date's gotten closer. Like having a spat with the Best Man that was so severe that it's resulted in him being kicked out of the groomsmen. It's to the point where I wonder if people realize that the wedding is about us and not them.

It still kind of amazes me how much stress other people seem to be piling on that doesn't need to be. And I've lost count of the breaches in wedding etiquette from some of our guests. Seriously. I'm pretty sure this isn't the first wedding many of them have been to, so I honestly have no idea what's going on.

I'm sorry for what you are going through.

You'll do just fine, and so will your man. Don't overthink it all.

No matter the situation or the problems, the only thing that matters is - getting that ring on your finger. To hell with guests and associated stress. Get your man and the two of you ride off into the frikin sunset.

  • Finally got a specialist visit I didn't have to reschedule--and all he did was tell me I don't have any visible wear and tear or arthritis and need an MRI to know for sure if anything is torn. Which I already knew. And THEN I got a summary e-mailed to me, which mentions my condition as DERANGEMENT OF MEDIAL MENISCUS OF LEFT KNEE and CHONDROMALACIA OF LEFT KNEE--neither of which the doctor actually told me.

    Angry. Irritated. Grumpy. Grrr.

We live here, and with rounding, nobody is moving away. We've come to a strange place where both parties of our two party system have betrayed their core demographic for far too long. In the end, is appears we now have at least four years of Trump. He's not my choice, and I won't insult you if he was yours, but with him comes hope, a hope we wouldn't have found with Hilary. A hope that the GOP and DNC can reevaluate themselves, return to their roots, and put for candidates of honor and integrity in the future. Maybe we can have candidates we'd be proud of sitting across the table from our views.
