Dark Souls II delivers on gameplay and PvP, but it certainly isn't the complete package that people came to expect from Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. The vestiges of the story are there, the environments have glimmers of beauty, and the music can be very powerful-- but this was a very quickly done project and with, as people have lovingly put it, From's B Team. The disjointed feeling never left me and a great deal of the bosses felt like someone shook up a hat with some names, picked a handful, and threw them onto the wall in hopes that something would stick.
Demon's Souls and Dark Souls are on a pedestal for me. I consider them to be in my top ten favorite games of all-time and because of this, at times I do think I am overly harsh on II's entry to the series--but, in the end my disappointment for an incomplete package largely overshadows their efforts.
I won't be buying the DLC due to this. On another note, however, Hidetaka Miyazaki is one of my favorite directors from Japan. I have nothing but extremely high hopes for Bloodborne due to his presence and direction he has for his games. It's been in production since 2012 by his core team and damn if I don't love long dev periods.
Nothing too new on the 3DS front except for Fantasy Life. Nintendo intends to announce more over the next few days, but I somehow doubt I will see SMT x FE. UNGH THIS PAIN IS REAL
FROM had some footage leaked--like, pre-alpha footage from when Bloodborne was Project Beast from about a year and a half ago. It was previously just some gifs but it looks like we got the full footage now. Pre-alpha FPS instability? Don't care. Give it to me. Now.
Also the director said Bloodborne is essentially Tower of Latria: The Game. Tower of Latria was a sublime experience for me in Demon's Souls. I had no idea where to go, what to do, and was scared to death the whole time I played through it. A labyrinthine prison with mindflayer guards, man centipedes, the Maneaters, the Old Monk. Gooooooooooooooood
I'm not going to pre-order it. Or buy the expansion pack for DS2. Maybe it'll be good when it comes out - and I sure hope it is. But the more I dig around in DS2 and compare it back against DS1, the more disappointed I become. Seems like they're dumbing things down a lot more, and they're cheapening the experience. And the DLC thing still has me kind of burned too. Companies want to make money, so I'm not going to be mad at them about it - that's the reason they exist. But I'm not going to give them my money just because they want it, and they seem like they're disregarding the strong points that brought me to Dark Souls in the first place. RIP Darkwraith invasions, Giantdad is dead. All hail Havelmage.

Yeah, that's fine. Hell, I even talked about my feelings on DS2 several posts up. I'm just going to be excited for Tower of Latria: The Game!
Roleplay sets or bust. Slowly walking towards people with the Skull Lantern shinining in darkened Anor Londo while you are stark naked and watching them flee in terror is hysterically exciting. What did I have in my other hand? Just a Bandit's Knife.
Giantdad is boring. Havelmage is boring--much like any other set build in the Souls series. I'M CALLING YOU OUT, OMEI. YOU BORE ME.

Bit late on the E3 discussion but I have really, really high hopes for games like the Division (whose gameplay mimics an open-world Ghost Recon Phantoms, which I approve) and Rainbow Six: Siege (please don't disappoint me, Ubisoft).
Then there's the Sims 4 (yes, I play the Sims) and EA/Bioware has a chance at redemption with Dragon Age: Inquisition. Destiny also looks really great but alas, it is not coming out for the PC... yet.
Also, Steam Sale starts today. This picture is pretty appropriate:

Missari and I have been playing Payday 2. If any of you pick it up, we could use more hands in our Aetolian Noob Heister Squad. I play as Hoxton, she plays as Chains. We need a Dallas and a Wolf to round it out!
Edit: For any of those that do play. We have our skill set up like this:
Missari is going to be a Mastermind/Enforcer. I'm a Enforcer/Technician.
We could use someone spec'd into the Ghost tree with anything else. We're pretty well-rounded between her and I, but a stealth specialist would be really nice.
