Hrm, I don't think mb-core has ever been written to work with mac. Just windows and linux, and the linux support would have to be reaaaallly looked at.
I have also successfully compiled the Mudbot v2.42 source code (https://github.com/Xondk/Mudbot) on Mac OS X. You'll need to install Xcode and MacPorts or a similar package manager. I also had to make some minor modifications to the Makefile and gtk.c so that the compiler could find the gtk3+ header files. Feel free to message me with any questions that you have. I may also write a step-by-step post to the I_Mapper thread as soon as I've had enough caffeine to manage such a project without putting an eye out.
This isn't precisely the mudbot for Aetolia, however it was modified based on the original code released by Andrei Vasiliu (I think that's his name?). It was modified to work with Achaea, on Linux, Mac, or Windows... and it works great on Mac too! Works with gmcp etcetera... but you'll have to make some heavy mods to get it back to working with Aetolia. I've tried, can't. But you may be able to salvage the bits and pieces that make it work with mac, and then be able to compile it in xcode... may.

Would be nice if somebody could pick this up and turn out a project from it.
