Idea System Updates & Discord Integration
Hi folks,
We've just released some updates to the idea system that might be of interest!
- Ideas now decay and have a base shelf life of 100 real days.
- Each point of net support adds 10 days to the remaining decay time.
- Each point of net opposition removes 10 days from the remaining decay time.
- A net support of 7 or higher will preserve the idea from decaying at all.
These numbers are all subject to change, but the intention here is to freshen up the system a bit and enable some self clean up of the less popular submissions while preserving those that have a high support.
I also want to emphasise that idea permanence isn't a guarantee that the idea will be approved or implemented. We may still decline ideas with lots of votes or approve some with no votes, but we'll now be able to more easily filter things when we have time to review submissions.
We have also integrated the system into Discord!
- Ideas will now be posted in the #ideas channel in our Discord server when they're submitted.
- We aren't backdating this for existing ideas, but if an existing idea gets voted on in game, it will be pushed through to the server anyway.
- Deletions are logged to #ideas-log and the idea is deleted from the #ideas channel.
- If you are a verified discord user (see HELP DISCORD for information), you can click the thumbsup or thumbsdown reactions on the idea in #ideas to register your support/opposition with your discord-linked character.
The LISTIDEAS command has also undergone a bit of an overhaul.
- Refer to LISTIDEAS HELP for a range of new options you can give listideas, including the ability to LISTIDEAS UNVOTED to see what you have yet to vote on.
Lastly, we also have some new commands for you:
- NEXTIDEA
* When you use LISTIDEAS to get a list of ideas, NEXTIDEA will iterate through the list, as if you did SHOWIDEA <#> on the items in the list.
* e.g. you could do LISTIDEAS UNVOTED to get a list of all your unvoted ideas, then keep hitting NEXTIDEA to scroll through them.
- ASSIGNIDEA <idea#> <section>
* Help us out by categorising your idea for us. Sections are on LISTIDEAS.
* You can also use AIDEA for short.
As a reminder, to express an opinion on ideas, you'll want the following commands:
- IDEASUPPORT <idea>
- IDEAOPPOSE <idea>
- IDEANEUTRAL <idea> - this counts as having voted, and will remove the idea from your unvoted list
