The War of Might and Strife
For the first time in over fifty years, a Holy War has been fought upon the continent of Sapience. Midway through the month of Variach, 485 MA, the Goddess of Corruption openly declared Her desire for war to be made upon the Order of Her youngest Sibling, Bamathis, the Warlord.
During a quiet meeting within the confines of Her temple, the Dark Mother suddenly took the skies above Her domain, screeching and gnashing in a rage not seen from the demure Goddess since centuries long passed. She screamed Her anger out for the entirety of Sapience, hurling Her accusations towards Her Brothers, the Warlord Bamathis, and His Spymaster, Severn. Upon these accusations of risk to Her, of disregard to Her safety, Corruption declared war.
For one week each side prepared, the relatively new Argent Legion moving quickly to secure their battleplans, while the Chosen of Corruption put forth their own, born from centuries of experience in the conduct of Holy War. The period of grace came and passed, and soon friend met friend and family met family upon the field of battle. Under the banner of Corruption stood Tina, Rijetta, Rebra, Callidora, Azami, Azarae, Ayastia, Vasilissa, Neoma, Zhukov and Liarra, while beneath the Warlord's stood Fezzix, Mjoll, Robyn, Validan, Bulrok, Ipz, Ehtias, and Kanivara.
Like an errant spark taking light within a dry haybarn, the fighting erupted, brutal and without mercy shown on either side. Corruption's forces, led by Tina Cardinalis, the Tainted, quickly took the shrine lead over the Argent Legion, preferring a strategic approach compared to the Legion's own brutal one. Though the Legion, led by the Afviti, Mjoll Vilandra-Seirath, amassed first blood, and second, and many more for hours on, they continued to fall behind under the numbers and strategic planning of Corruption's forces. This carried on through days and nights, Corruption carrying the lead, until Fezzix Sicarius, Ireti of the Argent Legion, entered the field of battle.
Now forced to the defensive, Chakrasul's order adopted a series of hit and run tactics while the Argent Legion quickly took control of the war. The detriment between forces was quickly and brutally made up, and for a time the outcome of the war seemed all but assured. The forward momentum was not to be maintained, however, and as the Argent Legion's forces began to dwindle, Corruption's rallied with a vengeance. Within half a day, Chakrasul's order had made up the difference, and surpassed it, and the war was brought to a close.
Little is known about what has transpired between Them to cause this war, but rumours are already abound that place Corruption's Champion, Rijetta, at the heart of the ordeal. Talk of a curious, if violent, meeting between the Warlord and His own Champion has also been whispered about the land, the altercation ending with Mjoll very nearly put through the wall of Rasani's tavern. Some claim these events to be inexplicably tied together in some way, though precious few seem to know the truth in its entirety.
Perhaps the most startling of whispers passing lips was the involvement of an Albedi God.
