Yeah if any one hasn't seen it yet, check out Help Giftbags, it tells you exactly how Ironbeard's shennanigans work.. well mostly!
EDIT: It seems updated to this year, and Raz or some one probably put it in, since Ironbeard was changed last year, and that discount token seems new. Although all the oldies but goodies are there.
Thousands of tiny iron rings link together in a flawless pattern of sturdy metal to form the fabric of this heavy giftbag, rattling together at every movement with a noise like falling rain. Skillfully applied colour flows across the face of the bag's surface, forming the carefully rendered shape of a tall, square iron tower with windows and a door that open ominously into an interior concealed by shadow. A thin cord of some surprisingly strong, obscure material forms a drawstring for the bag, ornate little tassels adorning its ends.
I think it would be just better if instead of Ironbeard, make a huge tree in Delos. Make it where everyone gets a gift. All random things inside said giftbox. If you get something you already have or do not want you have 24 hours to REGIFT and give the item to someone else (that does not violate HELP SECONDS). This way no one is left out, no more super idle times and I do not need to keep my computer on 24 hrs a day for a chance at crap probably won't either get or use, but still want anyways.
Naw, there's a bit of numbermagic that makes it more probable for people who haven't gotten a visit to get visited before people who have. Folk getting extra visits are especially lucky with the RNG gods.
I sort of wish there'd be checks in place so people who are online but idlebearding doesn't get any bags. Active players should be rewarded, not people logging in and afk'ing.
EDIT: They have this in Achaea. I think it's a good thing.
Unless it is going to be a bit more complex than 'if they input a command every so often', a basic coder would just make a timer to do something every so often.
The artifact discount tokens must be the most clever promotional item ever. Basically, they give away tons of credits for free, but only if you spend tons of credits in the first place.
Even though Ironbeard has a better chance of visiting people he has yet to visit yet and I am only assuming people with more visits have even less chances... but a few things to take into considerations: Even though I've been visited twice, I am litterally logged in 24/7 at all times, so my chances are much higher than people who can only play so long or get disconnected etc. Not to mention, as some one said its just a random thinger ma bobber, it is still randomized with probabilities, despite it having some sort of filter placed upon it. I am really sorry to people who aren't getting visits, but ... I am still looking forward to my third visit >.> -crosses fingers-
