Crit rate

Crit rate buffs seem to be stacking rather unimpressively. I might just have repeatedly bad luck, but here's what I'm seeing:

Expected crit rate:
- Endgame base rate: 42% (?)
- Bracers level 2: 4%
- City research bonus: 5%
- Statpack enhancements: 3%
- Grimstim: 5% (?)
- Eggnog: 5% (?)
- Monocle: 5% (???)
Total: 69% (?)

I had bad luck and couldn't get wheel spin.

Very quickly in, it settled down into a 56% range, until I switched to Arbothia and Teshen, at which point it bounced up to 59%ish. Do different target types affect the rate?

Am I having terribad luck? Do I have some numbers really really wrong? Are certain buffs not applying right? Share your own rates, maybe? I really wish that crit rate was displayed in AUDIT. Report 1740!

    Hmm, after like 300-400 hits on Teshen, my rate spiked up to over 70%. As soon as I left and went to Nal'jin, within 100 hits it's already dropped about 4%.

    I'm wondering if the thing you are hitting matters for rate? Or maybe there is some weird thing at play with combos? The Teshen I nearly all killed in 1/2 of a SSL combo.

    When calculating crit rate, I wouldn't really rely on statistics unless they were in the range of tens of thousand attacks because I've seen some pretty big variations as well.

    EDIT:
    I found this table on the old Achaean forums. I assume we use the same numbers for crit chance. 'Gain' is how much your crit chance improved from your last level.

    I have a level 4 crit bracer, the ylem bonus, and I occasionally use grimstims/hunt in areas with the compendium crit bonus. Also, not sure if I ever swapped class to bash in a class where I wasn't tracking the attack message and it just let the crits tick up. Fairly sure these numbers are pretty accurate, though.

    After resetting all my variables and bashing for a bit, I am getting a much lower crit percentage than before:

    My crit bonuses would be artifact (8%), research bonus (5%), augmetics (3%), as well as however much the monocle relic provides. This should add up to at least 58% plus however much the relic bonus is. Seems to be pretty off to me. Seems to have balanced out after continuing bashing:

    Going to hunt without any optional buffs until 1) I level up or 2) I get about 8k hits. Just so we can see a 'baseline'. Then I'll smash different buffs and try and get similiar numbers to see how it compares.

    (Edit: If a monkey type triple hitter were to do this this would be a lot faster hint hint)

  • I'm not sure if either of your scripts are calculating your crit chances right. As I understand it, the way it works is this:

    You attack, there is a chance to crit. If you successfully crit it makes another crit check to upgrade to the next crit level. Repeat until it fails to upgrade to the next level or you hit annihilating.

    So, it looks like you guys are counting annihilating crits as a single crit, when really that's five successful crit rolls stacked on top of each other. If so, you should calculate:
    Normal hits as 1 roll, 0 successes
    Critical strikes as 2 rolls, 1 success
    Staggering as 3 rolls, 2 successes
    Crushing as 4 rolls, 3 successes
    Mutilating as 5 rolls, 4 successes
    Annihilating as 5 rolls, 5 successes

    I could be totally wrong, just feel like somebody told me this is how it worked a long time ago.

  • Somebody a long time ago told me pouring rubbing alcohol in cuts was good for cleaning them out!

    Then a surgeon told me that tap water works just as well.
