Technically an emperor would be above the title of a king. An emperor would rule an empire, which would compose several kingdoms.
Princes/principalities.
While king evokes a greater sense of autonomy from the empire.
To me, it has been the rank of 'king' that never seemed to fit into Bloodloch.
King was more or less "King of the Vampires" and not anything to do with Bloodloch, because Belladonna was "Queen of the Vampires.".
Keeping with the White-Wolfish ethos that was used when vampires were originally created the Princes ruled houses, and there wasn't anything wrong with that. Abhorash was the Emperor of the Consanguine Empire and Keeper of Bloodloch, and then Kauller overthrew him and threw a wrench into those plans. Then with the multiple Imperiums nobody ever bothered to take over being the Emperor when Abhorash's original player stopped playing. Belladonna jumped into a volcano we all just figured that meant everyone got promoted, even at the top and started calling Princes Emperors even though it didn't make much sense.
