Were you told verbally or in writing? If someone sent you an email or something else with a paper trail, you could use that and talk to someone higher up to try and get things fixed.

It would be nice if having the experience buff showed as a def line, like you get with double experience days and other things. If you're offline when it happens, you wouldn't see the notification about it happening.
