Would it be fine for me to tie my character's backstory to an existing NPC in the game? Specifically, I want to say that my character grew up in X location and was taught to read and write by Y NPC, and that therefore they are close friends.(Quote) That's exactly what I immediately did and it still got rejected.

Playing such a happy-go-lucky character, in contrast to my usual, more serious/philosophical/murderous ones, seems to be having a really positive effect on my mood, IRL. Thanks for the advice. I did end up buying fishing and while it's not much more fun than bashing, it is a convenient way that I can be 'productive' IG while also being productive IRL working etc.
