Recover only costs ~100 mana, using it in combination with your attack really has no drawback, especially for bashing. The mana loss will be recovered by moon and or kidney.
Firstaid doesn't maintain the insulation defence, which means you have to keep track of salves and salve balance yourself, defeating the purpose of server-side curing.
