Is it good? I love Jodie Foster, but Matt Damon seems like an odd casting, despite my <3s for him.

He performs very well. His character requires someone taciturn and suffering and that is apparently Damon's strength.

I went from pasty white to a nice shade of pink yesterday. And while I'm currently in intense pain, I love it because Monday I'll be all tan and stuff.

  • Nice quiet mornings where I get to sleep in and wake up without the urgency to get anything done.

  • Me too Val! I loved sleeping in this morning. And getting to talk to the boy last night, until I fell asleep. Perfect times.

    ELYSIUM.

Oh my god what an incredible movie. If I had the money and the time I would have marched back into the IMAX and caught another showing. You need to watch this right now.
These are the same people who made this that made District 9, right? District 9 was awesome, and thanks for getting my hopes up. I may just go see Elysium in theatres at some point.

We just got back from seeing it. It was ok. Visually stunning and nice to see something with so many gritty and cyberpunk elements in mainstream sci-fi. The CGI and aesthetics were really great.
Though given how much of the movie rotated around the med beds, it was a pretty stupid oversight to not mention why they aren't something the general earth population can access - because of that omission, I'm sitting here going, welp, either the rich people are completely flat and one-dimensional bad guys who just like having exclusive things to be dicks, or the med bays chug down resources to the point that they aren't sustainable to use on a large scale, which means that about 3 month after the movie ends, the world is worse off than it was during the movie...neither of which were the director's point, I suspect.

Also, shaky cam fight scenes. Boooo. You had two actors in EXOSKELETONS with KNIVES AND SWORDS AND SPARKS FLYING AND OMG HURLING THROWS AND FLIPS, why ruin that brilliance with shaky cam making it impossible to follow D:.
Still, definitely REALLY fun to watch. Jodie Foster is so good at being STERN, South African accents are oddly enticing, and omg shots of earth from orbit are gorgeous.

Jodie Foster is a good actor, but her fake accent -shudder-  it grates me so bad.

Oh I thought she was just going for Canadian.

I happen to LOVE the thread for @Anfini hitting Tekal/Idreth. So much glorious win.

  • I had to go check what you were talking about, then when I hit 'view new posts' I had to do a double-take at "82 unread" next to the thread title.

I was taking a drink of water when I scrolled past the Borscin picture and spit it out all over the place laughing. Thanks @Arbre.

    Eeeeeeeeeeeee!

  • Today I got a phone call from my little brother. When he was fifteen he was addicted to pain killers (since he was 13) and was an alcoholic at fifteen. Today, only a few months after his 19th birthday, marks two years of complete sobriety and he decided to celebrate by scheduling his GED test for this Thursday. He's entered into talks with the police recruiter and has decided to enter the academy after he turns 21. I'm happy to see him pulling his life together.

Had an incredible night with @Piper and @Kiyotan, eating Lebanese, drinking something not unlike a mai-tai, and smoking hookah. It was the chillest time I've had in years. Gonna miss you Peter!

  • New Atttack on Titan comes out in 2 days. On top of that, my dad is doing well and is back home. Although they need to change a lead to his heart (major surgery) it won't be for another week or so, giving me time to plan to go up there if I need.

I had finally come back to playing after moving in roommate, going on vacation and settling everything in and BAM! My keyboard craps out. It crapped out in a really annoying weird way. MOST of the keys still worked, but "v" would not work, neither would "q" or "]"
Lemme tell ya, you don't realize how many 'V's are in english until suddenly you can't use them.
This would have been tolerable if it weren't for my shift keys also inexplicably ceasing functionality. This meant that if I wanted to use any capital letters, I'd have to use capslock. However, more damningly, it also meant that nearly every bit of punctuation required to not look like a total idiot during general communication or RP was completely unattainable. I realize I could use the onscreen keyboard, but dear god is that a pain in the unicorns - couple that with the fact that the password to log into my computer has capitals and punctuation only obtained through SHIFTing, and I was pretty much just computer-crippled.

The other love part: Due to my computer inaccessibility, I decided to spend my free time reading. I forget how much I love reading when I haven't been doing it for awhile. *happy sigh*
