What does Aetolia do that annoys you, but isn't enough to be a big deal? Here's some of mine. (Thread rules: Keep it mild! No references to people [i.e. "MY PET PEEVE IS WHEN PERSON DOES THIS.] This is not a rage thread!)

After I die, I can embed focus to get my vibes back, but I have to resummon my elementals one at a time.
I have to outc herbs to eat them, or outc inks to ink tattoos. Not a problem for people who have played Aetolia since forever, but I came from Imperian where things auto-outrifted and frequently forget.
Speaking of tattoos, Imperian had a thing where you could ink on 'any' body part instead of specifying the limb.
Seeing what tattoos another person has is in Vision. It ought to be in Tattoos instead.
You can make venom rags with Toxicology, but you can't make elixir/serum vials with Concoctions/Reanimation.
When I search the help system for multiple words, it shows pages that don't have both words in them. So searching for "enemy artifact" for example will only show me a list of pages with "artifact" in them.
Shops sell elixirs by X gold per 50 sips, the fluidcache refills by 100, and vials hold 50. So when you refill your fluidcache, you're actually paying twice the stated cost and refilling by twice the stated amount, and you can't refill your fluidcache by just 50 sips.
Fluidcache's syntax to refill empty vials/rags is FLUIDCACHE FILL (liquid) (item). I keep doing FLUIDCACHE FILL (item) (liquid), because the structure makes more sense (you're FILLing an ITEM with LIQUID.)
Inks and commodities are in the same cache group.

Fun facts: About your character!

Are there some fun facts about your characters that maybe people might not know from your description, but if they had a chance, they might learn through either RP? Or maybe you kinda wish they fit into your description organically without breaking immersion, because it'd be kinda cool to see people actually roleplay with these traits? Share 'em here! Just be aware in offering this info, you may be offering implicit permission for people to come around and use some of these facts to interact with you. I'll start with neat facts about Axius, just be aware that I'll note the circumstances required for someone to actually -notice- the details in question, and why they're not explicitly available via description. Axius' male form (Guyaxi) has color-changing eyes. They're related to his emotional state at the moment, and only really shift into colors when his emotional state is pushing to the surface and expressing itself intently. It's intended to replace eye-focused facial expressions in his RP, but he's only expressed a few different shades because he's always been the type to bury his emotions, and when he's bringing them up, it's usually in response to some sort of religion-type RP so that's the shades they've taken up. Sometimes I'll reference it in a particularly interesting discussion on religion between Axius and someone asking questions. But his eyes often shift from purple to bright -bright- red when discussing Iosyne. He's also had tints of Jade in situations that he's expressing a bit of his history with Chakrasul, though it's never blatant and out in public that he lets that side have a handle. It's even gone yellow once, and then shifted to Orange. Malice and Passion and Pain mix together interestingly, no? hehe. Axius has 2 tail-related relics that I RP with. they are the Scorpion Tail and the Prehensile Tail relics, and they are shaped into very -very- small bands tucked into the base of the bladed tip of his tail, with the scorpion tail pressed against the blade to exude the venoms over the bladed tip. And the RP is that because he was not someone -with- a tail before he ascended, he needed some sort of guidance to help him grasp using it, and the scorpion tail relic was a gift that came paired with the prehensile relic, giving him access to a method by which he uses his bladed tip to put out venoms, with fun RP implications of the amount of time he's spent with it, learning to use the framework. The reason why they're not in his description is because unless you're actually handling his tail, you're not going to notice the very small bands. For Femaxi, there's no bands, they're actually very small scales blended into the -very- fine scales of her tail, she lacks a bladed tip, so the venoms secrete through her slime around the tip of her tail, and need an alternative delivery. And yes. Femaxi's got -very- fine scales. Look at a newt or a gecko. They technically have scales, but they're so small and fine, it looks like smooth skin. Most would never know unless they explicitly are close enough to her that they're physically touching her and noting the -texture- of her scales first, because they HAVE a distinct texture that is concealed visually by a layer of her slime, and the relic scales are tucked into her hide in such a way that they can't be easily identified under her slime in the location they are hidden. Edit: Adding another fact I -want- people aware of 'cause it's in my desc.. but unless I've got perfume/cologne, most don't notice it. Axius' slime is actually not normal Nazetu-stink slime. Depending on their biological sex at the moment, it's a different flavor/scent. Male Axius: Spiced fruit in flavor, old spice-like scent. Female Axius: Berries, fruits, apples and other sweet things both in scent and flavor. And yes, Axi's slime -is- completely edible. It's made for some interesting RP with the few people who've paid attention and gone "...oooh." and done stuff like taste it. Because it's normally a consistency similar to jelly if you scoop it onto your finger, but less sticky and more... gloopy? I guess? Either way, lol.

It's no secret that an increasing number of Aetolians have rejected the gender binary, whether it's to swap back and forth between male/female states, or anything in between.

How has this affected your experience? I thought I'd make a general thread to talk about the effects and ramifications of Aetolia's gender revolution.

What differences are there when your character changes?

Bloodloch's government system is unfair and doesn't make sense

Just got out of an admin meeting where it was again re-affirmed that the Dominion gets a guaranteed spot on the Overlord Council, with the world's smallest concessions made to weaken that power. What do you guys think? Does this seem fair? No other guilds in Bloodloch have this privilege. It's really messed up to me that "lore" is used as a crutch repeatedly because Bloodloch was founded by Abhorash 400ish in game years ago. The modern Dominion isn't an Abhorash-style-vampire, and in a city where Might Makes Right, it's mindboggling to me that guilds that could easily outmatch the Dominion in combat if it came to it has to somehow just be like "oh gee golly we accept that there's an overlord position that can't be budged." I'm utterly maddened by this being treated like it's solely something that matters through the lens of lore. Game cities are player-run-institutions that have mechanical authority over other players. Lore isn't the only thing that matters. Am I crazy? I know I'm salty. I really am. I'm this close to never logging in again over it. What do you guys think?

Why did Bloodloch start accepting living players?

Was it just power gaming or a decline in RP? Or some other reason? To note, in Imperian they eventually hard-coded a disincentive to have people from other "circles" in cities. This was generally poorly received, I would note two things about that though: (1) the circles thing in Imperian was a big part of debate RP and separating people basically killed the debate, whereas living vs. undead is not a very big debate area. (2) it's probably better to have this kind of thing come from players but there may be subtle mechanical reasons for why such a thing is not materializing. I am not suggesting that a disincentive be coded in but there may be something going on that is not letting people be spicy enough to kick out all of the living players.

Hello Aetolians, As many are well aware I am the player of Oonagh....those who frequent the forums can read of many of the things I have done during my tenure on numerous characters across many platforms and organizations. Recently though a dark splotch on the community has seemed to fester and I want to not only take accountability to speak of my actions as a player, but also those which persist that cant seem to shake the line that separates IC and OOC communications. We have seen as a community many technological leaps since the early days of MUDs, back on Telnet...which to some of our players may be a foreign word. We have seen each other through schoolwork, finals, dating, addiction, marriages, and deaths. When I made Oonagh, it was after me being a historically volatile character was wearing upon me as a person OOC. I created Oonagh and kept his secret identity of me the player secret for upwards of two years.....I had very few problems, in fact Oonagh was beloved by many, encouraging, motivational, and informational. Never had any problems from any players....until it slowly spread who I was, then the community turned on me, comparisons to my previous characters began, and I was discounted as a player completely and as an IC role. I began to feel the wear and tear that I felt in previous times, because for all intents and purposes there is a collection of a few players who in my....over a decade of playing, have dictated the course of the roleplay environment and if you are not part of that group, you are an outsider, and wrong and bad. Then an opportunity came up, a silver lining so to speak, and change began to happen, immersion came back...roleplay increased, and alot of fun began to happen as the roleplay environment began to diversify. The "old-guard" did not like this so much, and did as they do and began to strike at it with intent to destroy that which would provide change to a game that ultimately NEEDS the excitement many in it's playerbase crave. Because at the end of the day it is a game, with a world that is dynamic and should have change in it constantly, developments, things beyond it being a chatroom with fancy clothes and baubles. Things outside of the circle that provides comfort, because in a fantasy world, there needs to be risk, heartache, strife....not just comfortable happy fun times. Then the comparisons came...the social justice...the outcry to destroy something different. So deep and harsh. Then the OOC attacks, the discounting of ones credit in game. Novices reaching out IC for knowledge and information and making assessments... While being told on Discord that you are not a great source of information Discounted because someone does not agree with your particular brand of roleplay. Then beyond that getting messages in discord from people you dont even know, who share chat exceprts with you saying that the aforementioned group of people are working actively to remove you and others who agree with you from organizations. Is it hearsay, I dont know....but the attitudes and messages relayed say as much. All while the producer sits back refusing to make an assessment on how this kind of environment is harming the game, and refusing to make an answer or even acknowledge your messages and those of many others who are reaching out for information. I have been in plenty of IRE games, and no other administrative team would tolerate this kind of nonsense, in fact I find it absolutely cowardly that this persists, because purely alot of the old players that are the issue, are friends with volunteers and admins that couldnt be damned to moderate the Discord Server. I mean theres a few players that have went up and down in the pools so many times you would think they were a buoy. They like to say that there is a modicum of confidentiality in the Aetolia pools, but really its just a rotating cast of the Old Guard that help their friends and have them join one anothers Order and continue the persistant nonsense that has perpetuated the toxic environment that has been allowed to fester in Aetolia for well over a decade. Tiur inhereted this mess, and frankly, hes in over his head and I think he knows it. In fact I think a good portion of the newer playerbase knows it, alongside some of us old players that have seen this go on for years and have been helpless to stop it. If I get deleted for sharing my feelings, I get it. I am just hopeful that some of you get to read it and realize that the end of the day its a business and they are going to try and silence it to cover their ass. At least I wasn't afraid to speak from my heart. Anyone who knows me, knows that about me.

As tempting as it will be to be upset, bitter, or angry at the way things turned out (I still am in a lot of ways, I know where you're coming from), it'll be much more fun to talk about the fun stuff. I'll start us off by mentioning this is the first time in years that I engaged in PK! Well, outside of Ylem. This is the first time I've been jumped or attacked in a 1v1 situation by choice. Some of them I won and some I lost. This is a bit vague and seemingly meaningless, but this war marks a major step forward in me getting over my irrational fear of conflict in the game. Shoutout to Light: I really want to thank @Benedicto for being so polite and honorable. Everyone else has been relatively good too, comparing them to events before the whole conflict began.

So, a long while back, I was talking with people in discord about character art creation - was hoping to get something new of Agothaxl made. Instead, we ended up all posting pictures of our characters over the years. So, with that in mind, I wanted to do an Aishia-like post with all my character art I still have around or have found. Hello. Neighborhood frog here. So I will fully preface this with the fact that I am inherently not really good at coding, back in my day we were fancy combatants when we set macros for monk punches, but that also kind of leads in to other things and the bounty of salt I have had the past couple weeks since mage release. I will kind of tell a story here and my opinions, and I want to open it up for others to comment because I think that dialogue is important. I have already somewhat commented to @Keroc (..very saltily) and @Tiur (..less salt, just kinda bummed) regarding this and figured I would open it to others as well to share their feelings. I, like many others was super excited about mage, though I had little input on the theme that would come about or involvement in any testing I would have assumed it to be a more magical experience, though upon testing and confirming with other people as well as the tester who has not had alot of time due to their work, it is pretty clear that Ascendril is another limb-based class, focused on pushing salves, and breaking limbs, there are other routes but they all kind of revolve around limbs. 2 of the three glimpses focus on limbs, the only useful FIRE skill focuses on limb damage, overall you are just playing another glorified limb class and stuck in the same vein of gameplay as Templar or Illuminai, so Enorian is just losing that magical, sorcerer/wizard feel that many people came to the Ascendril for in the first place. Sciomancer seems to have kept theirs with cool new afflictions that require Spirit players to upkeep a new tattoo (firefly) and lots of affliction qualifiers with a mobile singularity that follows the player. Our fulcrum are not as useful, they are more supportive to the route we are ironed out for, we dont have the passive mystical abilities, its just a bunch of kale under a meaty limb steak. Second note - It's NOT beginner friendly, even bashing requires a rotation, I will be first to admit I feel my failings as a GM for not understanding better how to explain to new players and current players alike how to do things and play the class, I am trying to figure it out but I am getting incredibly frustrated with it. Unfortunately @Eliadon works alot, @Isia doesn't play the class and for months prior to release I asked if I could have information to update scrolls or prepare myself for this and was reassured on a few occasions that "It's not going to be that big of a change, don't worry" (Also by risk of spoilers, I forgot to add that...they didn't wanna spoil it for me) - So not only have I lost the vision of what my class is supposed to feel like, but im basically at the point of not wanting to play cause I cant even figure out the class I am supposed to play, meanwhile I see the Sciomancers flourishing with shared information from @Emir and having a heck of a good time and it just makes me feel like a trash player. Anyways, I am sorry for using this to vent like I have...I just feel I cant be the only one who feels like Ascendril is half put together, while Sciomancer seems far more fleshed out and MAGE-Y. Feel free to comment. EDIT: I really hope my tone doesnt sound bad or anything, I write sometimes and read back and I am not intending it to sound like that, I really just wanna see if others have feedback of their experiences with it and have a discussion to see if there is maybe something I am missing or present to the upstairs folks to improve upon.

The Plane of Aetolia (MTG)

tl;dr Make your character into an MTG card! I used this place for the examples in this discussion. I had the rare opportunity to interact with Rhyot, and was inspired by the Lord of Lords to turn him into a Magic, The Gathering lord! I eventually didn't, but only because I like this direction more.

What was I thinking when I made this? "Who's up for the lesser?" and "He don't die, does he? He finally learned Avoidance?" How do you think you'd turn out in the MTG world? Challenge yourself too, and try making someone else! I'm sticking to creatures for the moment, but only because I'm not motivated to figure out how to properly mock up planeswalkers. If I figure out where I want Kasimir to settle, I'll make his.

I did not see an active thread for this, but as a returning character it interests me to see what is going on in the community! Please share the little (or big) moments in your character's life that may not warrant a new thread but is still important enough to you. I'll start first with something that took me two years to achieve (I blame absenteeism): [LEVEL UP]: You have reached the illustrious level of 99. You have gained 2 enhancement point! As the last bit of experience washes over your psyche, you are seized with a panic, suddenly unable to mentally contain the swell of power that comprises the sum total of your long journey to this point. Struggling to maintain control over the burgeoning tide of experience, you feel your body begin to tense and swell as if a larger physical container were the answer. Using your very body as a receptacle, you consciously channel the explosion of mental potence into your physical form. Almost immediately, the changes occur. Your skin tightens and stretches, taking on a grey sheen. You cannot help but scream in agony as your bones elongate and thicken, forcing muscle and tissue to adapt. As your body grows, you sense a void grow deep inside, a hollowness caused by and part of your sudden transformation. The gnawing emptiness has changed you profoundly, and you quickly recognize that only Divine essence might have any hope of filling it and making you whole once again. Without understanding how you know, you are aware that you are now Tekal, a hollow one. An agonized scream startles all into a brief hushed silence as Moxie finally transcends the mortal body, assuming the hollow form of a Tekal.

Every so often, we come across an interesting fact up in the Pools that momentarily makes us go 'huh' or 'neat'. I thought when they come up, why don't we share them with you all as well so you can join us in that feeling! Here's our first one: The most used predefined emote in the game is 'grab', and represents 8.04% of emotes used. 'Smile' comes in at second with 7.19%, and 'grin' third with 5.01%. These three are used far more than any other emote, with the next closest to them being ponder, at 2.52%.
