To Do List!

I noticed an idea for this and just in case it is never added or until it is added, here is mine! Works in Sunder. If you do not have Sunder, you will need this line spacing function:

function padRight(s, l, c)
  return s .. string.rep(c or ' ', l - #s)
end

ALIASES:

todolist - shows your current to do list!
addtodo (entry goes here) - adds an entry to your to do list. Ignore the parentheses

deltodo (all/number) - deletes all entries or a specified entry. Again, without the parentheses

movetodo (position) (newposition) - moves one entry to a different position on the list.

edittodo (position) (new entry) - edits an entry

Everything will save to a file in your profile, so if you change to a different profile you will need to move the file over to the new profile WHILE MUDLET IS CLOSED.

Well, we need admin support to do the 'guard against Shadow' RP. 100% of the Syssin guild would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to lean into that, but it just doesn't happen outside of events, and until very recently, plots and events were an absolute wasteland. What was left was espionage RP.

You can only RP being on high alert for Ohlsana or a Shadowplague that mechanically isn't happening or going to happen due to no event for it for so long before you find other things to be interesting.

I'd say there's still more to being Syssin, but espionage is just a lot of fun (in theory, and, often, in practice). It's just very two-note. It's basically just phase-spying or... convincing people to talk. Which, not to knock getting people to talk (it's whole "path" in Syssin), more mechanical avenues for espionage would still be fun. Espionage is stagnant, but the nerfing of the API is HUGE. Just HUGE. It's been a constant subject among Syssin that we can't really hide ourselves any more, and now we can again! Everyone can! I'd love to see even more things to open up more espionage routes, not just to Syssin (classed or guilded), but to everyone.

If we could rename the thread, I'd say it should be "Make espionage more robust", which is most of what's being discussed. Syssin RP is pretty good, imo. I think there's more I could do as a GM, but that's on me.

EDIT: In the spirit of "espionage, not Syssin", here's a couple random ideas for non-Syssin espionage:
* Buff Psionics Psychometry: Each time someone talks in a room with a grabbable item, that item has a chance of picking up one line of dialogue. When you PSI TOUCH later, you get the last holder, as well as an echo of that line of dialog. Every item becomes a bug! Probably ridiculous and prohibitively CPU/memory intensive, but maybe it could only work with a specific kind of item, like jewelry (which is pure enough to hold sound psionically for a long time) or have a very short duration.
* New Woodlore Attention: While in a forest, listen far and wide. Some sort of LoS or all-outdoor-room eavesdropping.
* New Thaumaturgy Convocation: Similar to Spirituality Mindread, but at your fulcrum.

I don't want to comment on any of the ideas presented here but IMO shoving the Syssin into a pigeonhole of "our entire guild purpose is to sit in phase and get information" is a true disservice to the breadth and depth of other roleplay that happens in the guild and with its many, many roleplay abilities.

To semi echo the sentiment above, the last 18 months has been tumultuous at the least. As most of you know, I work in the events industry here in the UK - primarily as a singer and primarily at weddings - and Covid did a real number on that when it hit. Things have been really busy over the last month as we play catchup with all the cancelled events that rearranged alongside the stuff that was already in the diary!

However, this morning I got an email from the national wedding awards telling me that I'd been shortlisted as a finalist in my category. I do normally get nominated because it only takes a couple of happy clients to put my name forward. I'm usually more than content with that as it's very flattering that I seem to have left a positive lasting impact on those clients. However, to be a finalist, it means that a lot of people have taken the time to put my name forward and vote for me with zero prompting.

It gives me an enormous sense of satisfaction and pride that the work I do has made enough of a positive impression on the people I've worked for to have reached this point and win or lose, at the end of it, just knowing that is reward enough!

It's been kind of a rough 2021 for me, and I definitely took the summer off from the game to take care of myself, but I am very happy to see some very positive and big changes happening around here and that's super exciting.

After hearing the feedback on the original iteration of the Sapience satellite map, Teani has gone ahead and updated it to include numerous new areas, as well as other adjustemnts to make it more accurate.
