Impromptu Year 500 Fishing Derby
Hello everyone!
Due to the superior quickness shown by everyone in the city riddles competition, I have decided to set up a competition that has not been held in quite some time!
At the next Howling, I will be hosting a fishing derby for everyone to participate in and win prizes!
The Fishing Derby is a fishing contest that anybody can take part in! During the event, everybody has access to the Fishing skill and can participate. All fishing during this event must be done with 'a competitor's fishing rod' sold at Hagriphim's shop, or your catches won't count. This includes all manner of fishing spears and those pesky unstable crystal clusters that blow the fish to smithereens!
The event is broken up into three rounds. Each round has a different objective to achieve, and will give out points depending on where you place in that round. Whoever scores the highest accumulated points at the end of the event will be considered the winner.
Please note that part of this contest is knowing where to find all the various fishing holes. We may specify where to find something at the start of the round, but we won't be answering people's questions on where to find a specific fish or hole during the event.
Round 1 - Biggest fish
----------------------
This round lasts for fifteen minutes. Whoever catches the biggest fish in that time is considered the winner. 1st place gets 3 points, 2nd to 4th place gets 2 points each, and 5th to 8th place gets 1 point each.
Round 2 - Catching a specific fish
----------------------------------
This round lasts for fifteen minutes. The goal is to catch five of a specific type of fish (revealed when the round starts). Placing in this round is based on who finishes first. 1st place gets 3 points, 2nd to 4th place gets 2 points each, and 5th to 8th place gets 1 point each.
Round 3 - As many fish as you can
---------------------------------
This round lasts for fifteen minutes and is a pure fishing frenzy! Catch as many fish as you can, big or small! Whoever catches the most fish in the time period is the winner for this round. 1st place gets 3 points, 2nd to 4th place gets 2 points each, and 5th to 8th place gets 1 point each.
Please refer to EVENTS INFO 336 for the official countdown timer!

City Riddle Contest Results!
Hi folks!
The city riddles contest is concluded in a much quicker time than we anticipated!
Coming in first was Bloodloch, in second was Duiran, third was Spinesreach, and Enorian took fourth place.
The collaborative effort that everyone put into this was really encouraging to see, and while some of them were obvious in hindsight, they weren't all easy!
I hope everyone who participated enjoyed themselves! For those interested, I'll be commenting on this post's forum thread with a full breakdown of the riddles and their answers.
As we now have an unexpected gap in the calendar, we've arranged an impromptu event which Ere will be posting about right after this!

Defilement Aura
Hi folks,
Following up somewhat on my last post and after talking over the problems with the defilement aura, I'm happy to announce the following:
- Defilement auras are now specific to the God whose shrines you have defiled.
- Defiling now tracks each specific aura timer separately.
- GODFEELINGS will list your defilement auras and their remaining times.
- This still shows up at large as 'aura of defilement' but the AURA ability in vision can be used on someone to determine which God's aura they have and whose shrines they defiled.
- Defences like Necromancy Soulmask or Oneiromancy Redoubt will not protect you from having your defilement aura read.
- All existing defilement auras have been wiped with this change.
- The "Heretics" shrine power is unchanged and lists anybody online with any defilement aura.
As a consequence of this, defilement aura now only confers PK cause on the order or congregation whose shrines you have defiled. It is no longer a carte blanche open PK status to everyone in the game.
Enjoy!
