Updates on Nexus 3.0
The Iron Realms team has been hard at work on Nexus 3.0. Shortly after our last newsletter, we started a small closed beta test in order to garner feedback as we prepare for an open beta.
The feedback has been tremendous. We realized we needed to adjust our goals and feature list for release. The testing team has been crucial to the development of the new client.
This has led to delays, but the delays will be worth it. We absolutely do not want to release a disappointing product.
Consulting with our beta testers, led to significant improvements to the main play screen. The screen is much more user-friendly. Users can create a personalized layout quickly by just dragging and dropping elements. Here is a screenshot of a custom layout that took seconds to make. Just drag and drop windows how you like them.
Another issue arose during beta testing that needs to be well communicated before release. This revolves primarily around migrating your current triggers and aliases to Nexus 3. Some scripts are going to be difficult to move and will require updating. Transferring your current settings is fairly automatic, but there are problems with scripts that were created beyond the scope of what we intended with Nexus 2.
We are working with the beta team to improve this migration process and address the compatibility issues. Please note that Iron Realms has no plans to drop Nexus 2. IRE will not do new development for Nexus 2, but it will remain on the game websites. In order words, if you're happy with the current Nexus, you do not need to migrate.

Roll a Soul: The Aetolian Character Generator
When Starmourn introduced Hardcore mode, a random discussion on Discord about the need to churn out new characters with unique backgrounds and traits more often than ever before led to the creation of the "Roll a Spacer" character generator... and now that Aetolia has their own version, I've duplicated the project and have customized things for our setting!
Roll a Soul is a work-in-progress, because as you can see I've yet to add in a list of character aspirations... I'd like the community's input on this aspect! To inspire you, some of the options available for Starmourn were:
As you can tell, it's a bit of a mix between realistic and outlandish, and I'm relatively new to the game so I'm not exactly in the best position to come up with a ton of ideas. Post them here, though, and I'll add them right into the mix!
Finally, I'm not smart enough to code it so that Arboreans are ALWAYS non-binary... you'll just need to suspend your disbelief a little or roll another!

There is no weapon more powerful to a bard than their voice, this simple fact is embodied within the art of Songcalling. From the drunk fool to the shining diva, anybody is capable of singing, but only a bard is able to empower a song to transform the mundane into the mystical.
Yet it is no simple composition a bard will call upon; each storied song belongs to an illustrious collection known to the Theater of Shadows as The Eminent Ensemble. Most songs in the Ensemble share a common characteristic: they are memorable songs that have had a deep impact on many people. Indeed, most are ancient songs borne from legend and myth that have become widespread across the continent. Not every song that fits this description meets the criteria to join the Ensemble, and the phenomena remains beyond the understanding of the Theater even today.
It is only these songs of the Ensemble that a bard is capable of empowering. By using their soul as a catalyst, they cause a reverberation in their voice that entwines with a song's tune and heightens it to magical levels that can affect their audience. Through these songs, a proficient bard can even manipulate the emotions of an audience to their own end.
Many of the Ensemble's songs are known by different names, and even lyrics, in several corners of the continent but all versions of a song share the same tune and overall theme. It is these two facts that remain most important for the song, for a strong tune will easily evoke the memory one has of their own version of a song. Master bards are capable of utilising this effect to make a song their own, often changing the lyrics to a song to put their own creative flair upon it.
Taking this concept to its highest level, a bard is able to imbue a portion of their own soul into an instrument, allowing them to sing one song while playing a second.

The Gray Accords
Hey peoples!
I've been talking with several others (primarily so far @Rasani , @Nipsy , @Teani ) about starting another podcast/stream. This would not be replacing the Weekly Milestones in any sense, but be an alternative while it's not around. And, once it is around, we can shift around as we need to so we don't cross over schedule-wise.
The schedule plan is, right now, to have our first broadcast April 19 around 8PM or so ET. Our schedule will be every Tuesday at 8PM ET, and then Sundays around 1PM ET. We will, of course, change this up as we need to in order to accommodate different people that are interested. I will be running it on this channel:
I will post them to Youtube and likely stream on there concurrently, though I need to still update that channel's details - so I'm not going to advertise that one for now until it's ready.
The plan is to not really set specific topics or anything, though the goings on of the week will likely be naturally discussed according to whoever joins. Depending on the crowd that joins will depend on how the topic flows:
-If it's the usual suspects, it'll be general chatter about the game and our experiences in recent goings on. Wishes for the game, that sort of thing.
-If we have a special guest, or several special guests, we'll focus more on an interview style discussion. This will allow them to voice their opinions, with some input from the rest of the people who have joined.
Overall, just a laid back feel is the hope! And hey, if no one is able to join but myself, I'll just blather about whatever I can think of to blather on. It'll be fun!
If you're interested in coming on, please just give me a DM here or on Discord. I have a Discord channel going, but am holding off on opening it up publicly until we get it set up a little more interestingly. Otherwise, it's just a place for us to be able to all hop in for voice chat for the stream.
I'm really excited for this, as I know the others are! Looking forward to seeing what we can make of this.
