My pet peeve:
The eternal catch 22 that is being in shadow. Damned if we do. Damned if we don't.
There is zero sportsmanship about any of the PK events outside of Sect. My experience in just about every event has been not syncing up time wise with the rest of shadow, and when I'm ready to go, they're taking breaks cus it is exhausting going up against superior numbers. A lot of time I just fly in solo, trying to catch like one person alone which is lucky to happen but will be short lived because easily 3+ people will show up instantly. What that curates is an ambivalence from me for spirit characters coming to contest or thwart the attempts. It feels like if we have the numbers advantage and the momentum we cannot give a single inch because the competition with Spirit is just that close. Spirit is doing competitively well and it's been shown time and again there will be no holding back to even the playing field for a weaker side. This eliminates any kind of sportsmanship in these competitions which, honestly, maybe is fine. I'm willing to accept that wanting to keep it 'fun' by evening the odds when you're in a position to do it isn't realistic or really even the point of the roles we're playing in this game.
Whatever the case it's all exhausting. Losing to Spirit is exhausting. Winning against Spirit is exhausting. Complaints happen regardless.
EDIT: If Shadow had taken an L tonight, I doubt there'd be any posts in these forums about how things were unfair. Like how overnight we learned that stationed troops meant we couldn't engage with the mechanics or the fact that some spirit characters seemed to react quickly, prior to any public posts made in the news, and seemed to just *know* bad things were afoot from Bloodloch. Nobody complained about these things. We just accepted and adapted and tried and assumed we were not going to be able to engage in the mechanic because we would not be able to get our shit together enough to offer a fight.
What's cool about all of this is that it's been entirely organic and unexpected. The nuances and details of everything leading up to a single win in a night has been the culmination of tons of character driven RP and initiative. It's shaped into a good story. Apologies to anyone reading this and flowing with my stream of thoughts here, but I'm realizing now my true pet peeve is that all the complaints and attitude about an event completely undermine and disregard the story being told. It's a story. I wish people would remember that this is a story and bad things need to happen in order for stories to be good. Bloodloch potentially being successful here is going to make a point in which ENorian is successful that much more meaningful and the world that much more interesting. Respect the stories. Appreciate the fact that there are bad things happening so good guy characters can be good. Don't cry on the forums.

@Whirran @Elene @Maeve - You have literally put up with Nipsy as a Thronekeeper for so long, I give you kudos because I would have thrown him to the wolves, I love and appreciate all of you and while tempers can flare IC, a lot of times we can come together to find resolutions between one another for the betterment of our city.
@Callidora - You truly impressed me, I would tag the entire of the Dominion, all twenty four of them who literally shat on the Teradrim in a battle by numbers, but I don't even remember half of the names, it was a blur. That being said you have taken things in stride and allowed a demonstration of your Guild's strength, so please share that you are appreciated and that I am impressed by what was accomplished today.
@Bulrok @Mjoll @Dourif @Almol @Alela @Mazzion - More often than not you are the names of leadership when it comes to rallying together the dysfunctional mess that is the Bloodlochian people, we sow discord, we burn things in our path, we smash their faces in with our shield and hammers. But at the end of the day you still put your best foot forward to see success in people and try and make us not feel like we are failing horribly, despite sometimes our questionable combat ability

I cannot believe I forgot @Xenia - I know I esteemed you a few times, but your role as the creepy spider auntie that mediates a City and upholds the values of their Goddess, is absolutely astounding. I honestly wish that I could recognize you more for having a reasonable approach to taking two very different mindsets, and producing a logical middle ground to converse.

rofl I think the language filter is actually gone now, after the forum migrationSince the world hasn't burned down in its absence, I'm content to leave the language filter out. I don't think it's especially necessary nowadays anyhow, so consider it gone.
I still don't want to see excessive cursing in every thread so consider this a unicorns unicorns unicorns should it get out of hand.

Not sure who all will read this who might be interested but the reason I've been gone the last few days from Aetolia is because I had to go to the emergency room early Monday. Once I got to work and started out I started shivering uncontrollably and then got very dizzy too. So the DMV called me an ambulance and I've been in the hospital since. Turns out I have Picornavirus in addition to Cellulitis in my lower left leg. They've been more concerned with the leg than the virus but I had a big fever Monday that I got through. Right now I'm still in here but feeling much better. Only thing is the lack of sleep. Hoping either tonight or tomorrow I get to come home. The infectious disease consultant or specialist told me he thinks I could probably go home with antibiotics and be fine. So I guess we will see.
