When in Abhorash Discussion Comment by Oleis September 2015

  • The prevalence of people string matching it rather than interpreting the JSON sure startled me a little bit. I've also found that many people are unfamiliar with the idea of SENDING GMCP, and what it can get them in terms of behind-the-scenes system…
  • I think a system/framework/documentation to help people better understand and interact with GMCP would be extremely helpful. Most have a basic comprehension, but many are missing out on some of the more powerful features.
  • I like MUDRammer. Seems to have pretty advanced capabilities, but I haven't used them.
  • Clearly you never tried to do front-end before bootstrap. It has made me hate my life significantly less. PM me if you need to rant or you want some guidance, lest I cause a derail and get shamed by my own minions.
  • (Quote) What'd bootstrap ever do to you? Unless you're not feeling sassy.
  • For clarification, Ishin was describing an issue with 3.0.

Pixel references are undesirable because newer Mac models use Retina displays operating at (comparatively) very high resolutions.
  • If you have string paths to include/require other files, such as C:\Users\...\etc., you'd need to switch those to reference *nix-style paths. As far as I can remember, that's the big change. There's also the fact that Mac for Mudlet is just not as s…
  • Last few we ran, we didn't even get a half-dozen submissions, unless I'm misremembering. Interpreted it as a sign of waning interest. I'm sure @Razmael would be open…
  • (Quote) This is one of the most pervasive rumors/misconceptions that I've encountered in IRE (second only to my apparently being a woman). Just so everyone is aware: Abhorash has only ever been an administrative character. He was never played by a…
  • It bears repeating (as I did a poor job of articulating it originally) that the meat of what @Veovis had to say was valid -- having Abhorash react in that way can hav…
  • To address the content of your post: That's entirely fair. The player behind Abhorash and I have already discussed your feedback, as we tend to discuss every time Abhorash makes an appearance. If you have suggestions, I'd love to hear those too.
  • I'm going to re-purpose one of my typical issue responses: Confrontational roleplay is still roleplay. The only reason you attribute this to administrative crumminess is because you, the out-of-character player, are cognizant that Abhorash is an adm…
  • (Quote) Welp, found my new signature.

  • This is a shame for one main reason -- JSON is a format designed specifically to deliver information in an accessible and human-readable way. Matching it as regex sets you up for your GMCP parsing to break any time we add, remove, or even change the…
  • My point was not that every jacket was consistent, or that clothing does not realistically vary in its usefulness against temperature. The distinction just doesn't matter all that much in how players interact with the weather system.
  • (Quote) Congratulations! Glad your hard work paid off.

  • (Quote) The basic clothing patterns all have warmth values assigned, similar to what you're describing. I'm not sure there will be a need for per-design warmth values.
  • @Trigru beat me to it because my phone sucks, but my original answer:

Things that were built off the same base item without proper separation often work t…
  • I realized I love babies last September. These forums keep me sane.
  • We have to swap out the token. Best path is to issue yourself with how you'd like to exchange it.
  • Fishing is likely to come to Albedos as new areas release on the continent. Multi-catch stuff is unlikely, as the basis of Fishing is a one-on-one fight with a feisty creature. Bait will not be a -regular- thing for Fishing, but special baits may pl…

  • (Quote) The price difference is significant enough that we don't typically do that. I think @Rashar has the correct answer here.
  • Babies. <3

  • (Quote) Fixed that for you.
  • (Quote) What an absolute cutie. I'm jealous of your fishing trip!
  • I'm pretty sold on a Taxidermy talent for even more than fish. Is that something that would interest you lot?
